Rumors say that the lady of the house has never slept. Rumors say that she has never changed, never grown old, never had a family at all. Some of her more superstitious servants will whisper to one another that she was born from the mists -- she certainly looks the part, at least -- and killed the family of the noble house years upon years ago. No one knows how long she has been the lady of the house, simply that she is now and it's never good to ask questions.

Rumors around the house, among the servants, say that Lady Gwenyth is immortal. Immortal, unchanging, as constant and immovable as the stars in the sky, the mists in the air, the trees and mountains and her manor itself. The rumors say she has never aged, has never loved or angered or cried. Rumors also say she bleeds and cries crystal -- some even say it's aurae -- though of course, no one knows if the rumors are true, because no one has ever seen her bleed or cry. Her servants are switched out, hired and released, so consistently that the rumors say the house is cursed, that no person can stay without going mad. The rumors themselves perpetuate things; no one wants to go mad, so the timespans of Lady Gwenyth's servants have shrank one by one, and the numbers of her staff have decreased year by year as well, as the rumors spread in the small hamlets nearby.

There is another rumor, about a woman orphaned young, left alone in a great manor with only her servants. There is a rumor about a woman who loved and lost, and then sealed her heart in ice so she would not hurt again.

But no one likes to hear those rumors.
